LIFE EVENTS

"Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn."

Romans 12:15

Baptism

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

Matthew 28:19

Baptism is a visible sign of God’s love and grace. At Southridge, we believe in one baptism that marks God’s promise to us through Jesus Christ. Baptism celebrates God’s faithfulness, the washing away of sin, rebirth in Christ, and adoption into the covenant family of the church. It points to resurrection and new life through Jesus.

We welcome the baptism of both children and adults as a meaningful step in the life of faith. If you were baptized in another Christian church, Southridge gladly recognizes that baptism as part of the one body of Christ.

When a person is baptized, the whole congregation remembers God’s covenant and the new life given through Jesus. Baptism is both a personal milestone and a moment of joy for the entire church family as we celebrate God’s grace together.

Weddings

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

A marriage is a celebration where two people enter into a sacred covenant with one another and with God. In marriage, a husband and a wife promise to walk through life side by side, growing in love, faith, and discipleship together. The church celebrates marriage as a gift from God and a moment of deep commitment. During the wedding ceremony, these vows are made before God and witnessed by family, friends, and the church community to rejoice in a new beginning of life together.

Funerals and Memorial Services

"Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die."

John 11:25

When a loved one dies, the church walks with you in care and support. In funerals and memorial services, we gather to celebrate the gift of life, comfort one another in grief, and hold fast to God’s promise of resurrection. Just as Southridge surrounds us throughout our lives, it also stands with us in death and supports those who mourn.

A funeral or memorial service is an act of worship to the living God. In these services we hear God’s Word in the midst of grief, bringing comfort and hope to those who mourn. Scripture is read and preached, prayers are offered, songs of praise are sung, grief is expressed, memories are shared, and faith in Christ is affirmed as we entrust our loved ones to God’s care.

Let Southridge support you during your life events!
