Our Missionaries in Africa
Peter and Patty Ford![]()
What is their Mission?
In 1982 Peter and Patty Ford responded to God's call to missionary service. They were assigned to serve Arabic- speaking people in Muscat, Oman. Five years later the Ford's were invited to serve in Khartoum, Sudan, where they taught Christain leaders at Gereif Bible School and Nile Theological College. In 2002, the Ford's relocated to Ethiopia, where Peter established and directed a program in Christian-Muslim relations at Mekane Yesus Seminary.
Now at St. Paul's University in Limuru, Kenya, Peter will teach courses on the Arabic language, the Qur'an, Islamic history, and other Islam-related topics to help students better understand their Muslim neighbors. He will also work with students on a personal level to help them develop appropriate attitudes toward the ministry of engaging with Muslims, and to teach others to do the same. Peter will conduct seminars and workshops on Christian- Muslim relations for non-St. Paul's students as well.
Patty coordinates the logistics for the Univeristy's eight Bible schools, located in outlying areas of Kenya. The Ford's younger son, Andrew is in the 10th grade and is enjoying his new school. Older son David is now a missionary in Sudan, working with Wychiffe Bible Translators.
Southridge Church and the Ford's have a longstanding relationship. We hope that you will join in the support of this amazing missionary family. Our communion offering on Sunday, January 10, 2010, will be used to help fund Peter and Patty and the work that they do in Kenya.
What Can You Do to Help?
Send your encouragement to the Fords:
"Personal cards, letters and e-mail messages from SCR and its members provide us with great encouragement. They remind us of your ongoing thoughts and prayers for us which complement your financial giving."
